 Blanca standard route

We left Colorado Springs at 6 in the morning and got to the bottom of lake como road at around 9. Heading up the road was hot and miserable, but after a while it got into the trees and was cool. On one of the the Jaws (I wasn't counting) a group of jeeps was coming down the road and one of them bottomed out on the rock and almost slid sideways

what a bummer
.
When we got to lake coo it was pretty crowded, i guess because people had to bring down that lady that got hurt. Anyway, the lake was full of mosquitos, so we set up camp and hiked up to the lakes above the waterfall to hang out.

Because of the clouds that were coming, we headed back down to camp and ate some delicious soup. It started to rain, and we had to play cards in the tent until we fell asleep. The next morning we woke up at six and went up the trail to blanca. We saw some big horn sheep!

sorry its kinda blurry
The trail was cool going up the ledges and by the lakes, but it got faint and there was tons of talus.

Somehow, we missed the trail going up ellingwood, because we were going to do that oe first, and then the ridge to blanca. oh well. When we got to the ridge there were very cool views of the valley on the other side.

The ridge to the top had a lot of fun scrambling. That was the best part At the top, the fog really closed in on us.

At this point my camera started to die so I couldn't take any more pics. Andrew and Billy had a little altitude sickness and the weather wasn't so great anyway, so we decided to skip ellingwood and do it some other time. well, the trudge down the road was hot and horrible, but we went to chipotle! I ate two burritos
