 Pikes Peak from the Crags

What a wonderful hike. Weather could not have been more perfect. I had never been on this trail up Pikes Peak and thoroughly enjoyed it.

The goal

I'm glad I read the trail description on this site and also the trip report done just the other day. It helped me especially were at least 3 groups (that I know of) went the wrong way. Follow the forest sign that says 664a. Very important.

Does anyone know what the plaque on top is for?

Anyone know anything about this?

Where the trail becomes large boulders on the last 30 minutes or so, it was solid and the trail was easy to locate. There were many cairns to follow.

There were very few hikers on this route. Very quiet. The stream was wonderful.

I will do this one again. Left just before 7am. Took 6 hours round trip with 20 min. on top.

** I noticed a number of the hikers walking on the tundra. I never know when or if I should say something. Please be careful and stay on durable surfaces, whenever possible folks.

The plaque is a freemason time capsule. You can google it but if I remember in 1999 they opened the original and put this on in its place for another 100 years. Don‘t recall what was in the one from 1899.
