Huron has always seemed to me like a forgotten peak. Out of the way and not particularly challenging. Perhaps known as much for it's proximity to the Three Apostles. But I have to say that I found it to be a particular beautiful hike with stellar views all along the way. No real need for many words so I will let pictures do the talking. Click on photos for large image (definitely encouraged on panoramic photos)
A panoramic of the basin as you approach treeline.
A little further along the Three Apostes clearly in view.
Huron finally comes into view near treeline
Approaching the summit with the Northeast Face still holding a bit of snow
Looking East towards Belford/Oxford/Missouri from the Summit ridge
On Summit looking North at La Plata (Center) with Elbert/Massive to the right in the disance
On the Summit looking Southwest with Taylor Park Reservoir in the top center of the photo
The Three Apostles
Experimenting with ground level perspectives.
For wildflower photos I like the near ground level perspective with a nice backdrop
Interesting shot looking at the trail near and in the distance (left center) as it enters the forest.
Did I mention that Green is my favorite color!
Hiking in the Forest on a great trail
A picture of contentment, I know it looks like consternation but I am happy, really.
Back to reality for the 2 mile hike on the 4WD road to Winfield
Hope you enjoyed the brief trip in photos.
