Climbed Kat Carson/Columbia Point on Sunday, 28 June 2010. The snow season will soon come to end for this climb, the climb proper yielded good neve but the sun took the sunhit surface to mush on our way down. No snow on the approach and the upper most part of the left hand slot was fully melted out, yielding some serious loose not to turn loose on a lower party. We got snow from a ways above the valley floor up through the couloir and half way up the left branch. The right branch was snow to the top. Overall, a long walk for a little snow but . . . shame on me for being a few weeks later than I would like to have been.
The mosquitos were incredible, as advertised on an earlier report. Swarms around the head, and any exposed skin made for a bug juice approach. Bugs not quite as bad at camp below lake but still serious bug juice country. Not quite as bad means lots of bugs, just not quite the torment level of below.
Otherwise good weather, good temps and no lack of camping though there were a dozen cars in the parking lot.
