 Holy Cross - Standard

Summit reached
Time: 14-hour hike; very long day (lost probably about 45 minutes to cross stream as water level was over most of the rocks)
Caravan: Ben, Jamie, Jon, Kristana
Start time: 5:45 A.M.
Drive from Denver: 2.5 hours
Summary:
Very long day - break up into two days if attempted again
Views were absolutely stunning
Don't want to see another boulder for about a month
Mosquitos everywhere

Gradual ascent over ridge and then dropped into basin. Stream was high (probably much higher than normal) so we had to cross sans boots and socks. Gradual ascent through trees and then hit the start of the boulders. Nothing but boulders all the way to the top with intermittent trail here and there. Last ascent push took a ton of steam out of our engines. Lost trail coming down boulder field directly above entrance into trees on summit side of creek (stay close to ridge).
