 Quandary - Standard

Day 2, 14er #3. Came up for Fl for a few days, did first 14ers yesterday (Grays/Torreys). Went for Quandary since it's so close to Breck. My girlfriend and I went out to do Democrat/Bross/Lincoln but the road to trail was too rough in the rental 2WD car. We also found a couple of guys stuck about a mile from the Kite Lake trail head in a 4WD SUV. Gave one of them a ride back to Alma to call for a pull. So we decided to head over to Quandary and just see how far we could get up it. Started the hike at 8:00am with cloudy skies. Lisa heading up one of the first ridges. Image

It was a busy day on the mountain for a Wednesday. Clouds brought a little wind and some very very light snow a couple of times. Lisa heading up final half mile. Image Here's a look back at the first part of the ridge. Image Lisa's first 14er and my 3rd. Image
Made summit at 1:00 and back to car by 3:20. Good long day of hiking. Snow was hard going up with no need for snowshoes, it did soften up on the decent which made it a little tough for a couple of 100 yard patches. Stayed on rocks when possible.
