 Mt Harvard

We managed to pick the only peak that did not get any snow from the recent storm! 1-4" of new fell Sunday night, just enough to cover up the dirt layer. Look like little-to-no new snow for Shavano north to Harvard. Elbert and Massive looked caked on the drive home, and evidence of a foot of fresh on top of Freemont Pass.

We could drive to about 1/2 mile shy of the summer trailhead.

We were able to skin to the very summit, and ski from there all the way to the car.

The dirt layer was well covered on the way up, but on the way down it was starting to show up in the flats, below 12,000'.

The freezes were effective, we had very little unconsolidated depth hoar on the way out.

Pictures are here.

I really like that shot, looks like your up around 18k or something. You skied straight off the summit down those slabs! Awesome!

Great shots!

I skied Columbia today and that little bit of snow from the last storm was just enough to make it continuous from summit to car.

That was my favorite picture of the day. Once above about 13,500 the wind was whipping up a bunch of snow drift causing the affect in that photo.

I was more amused by being able to skin up the slabs.

Great composition on that photo ... the rocks are so distinct and large compared to the skier ... and the different colored layers of the rock show up well ... the angle of slope shows nicely ... and finally the blue sky with puffy clouds. Thanks for posting. Happy trails!
