Kevin Baker	winter camping 1/7/2010 11:32pm Steve: Yeah, I learn a lot of stuff everytime I camp on snow. This was only the 4th and 5th nights that I‘ve camped in calendar winter, so I still have a lot to learn. It still have a lot of inefficiency and pack weight to cut!

Dancesatmoonrise	Thanks, Sarah! 1/10/2010 3:38pm Thanks for the info on the trip -- two of us hit it last Tuesday, didn‘t summit. I went back yesterday -solo- got it. Gorgeous day, no wind - beautiful this time of year. I was salivating over the photos and thought to myself it‘s just not fair that some people would be willing to haul in a nice SLR, series of lenses, and tripod, in addition to all that winter gear. How do you guys carry all that? But it‘s worth it for these shots you got! ... Then I see it‘s a P&S. OMG, how are you getting that filter effect! I can see some post-sharpening, but these are still incredibly sharp for handheld. Or did you bring the tripod? Yog -- if you‘re not already on your way, I busted out the upper Horn Fork yesterday, and there was no wind, so you should be good to go! Thanks guys, beautiful TR!
Kevin Baker	camera 1/12/2010 9:39pm Moonrise: Image stabilization goes a long ways with a Canon. I don‘t have a tripod or any special lens. I do crop and sharpen in Picasa, but that‘s it. Our Columbia hike was a nice, crisp, clear winter day. It was hard to go wrong with any pics. Glad you made it up the second time!

sgladbach	Using those mountains....... 11/30/2010 5:28pm Cool to see 14er climbing re-defined. Pack in to Horn Fork basin and climb Harvard one day and Columbia the next. Just as the original guidebooks (Borneman and Lambert) suggested. One change: It's January 1st instead of July 1st. That's one way to minimize impact! Looks like a fun experience. Do you find every snow camping day adds new knowledge? I've camped hundreds of days in summer/fall and only 15 or so winter days on colorado 14ers. I‘ve got so much to learn! Congratulations guys!
kimo	The good life 11/30/2010 5:28pm I like that photo "looking back at our descent from 13598." I've seen 13598 when dry before. Stared at it long and hard when we climbed Harvard in early October. It looked nothing like the mountain in your photo. All that snow and mist makes it look unreal, unrelenting, massive, like a snowy 6000m peak in a far off land. I've never climbed a big mountain in those conditions before but strangely, I looking forward to trying it someday. Excellent trip report, thx.

Johnson	Great report. 6/2/2011 2:57pm I really enjoyed reading this. The pictures were excellent too. As for what to do in the tent to pass time, I believe one dude on this site watched part of movie on his approach to Capitol. Also, where is a good place to have pizza in Buena Vista? Great job on your work here.
