 Don‘t forget goggles
Our initial plans were to do Lincoln/Democrat/Bross, but the forecast was looking crazy windy, and Elbert was supposed to be just "breezy". There were many points that we had to stop and brace ourselves so that we wouldn‘t be blown over. Luckily, we were mostly prepared and the sun was out, so visibility was still good. We did however forget goggles, a necessity in the battle of man versus nature. The snow pack was good and I wouldn‘t say snowshoes were necessary, but do watch out for slick patches. There are very few cairns on this route, and the wind can quickly cover your tracks, so getting lost can be easy if you‘re not paying attention.
