 Half Way There!

Glorious Fall Day on Uncompahgre

From the Nellie Creek Trailhead

8:00 a.m. - Depart Trailhead
11:00 a.m. - Summit
11:45 a.m. - Depart Summit
2:00 p.m. - Arrive Trailhead

The weather was fabulous as I officially completed half of the Colorado 14ers in one year and 4 months. While I was climbing solo (as usual and with my Spot Beacon), I did share the mountain with 7 others on this great fall day. I'm not going to get too wordy with this narrative--I'll just throw some captions on the photos. You gotta love these late season climbs with such perfect weather!

Here is the first glimpse of the objective.

Gotta fly the flag!

And of course you have to get the WOW shot while you are on this peak.

Thanks to the AFgeezer (center) and his two friends from the Denver area, I was able to get the WOW shot. Thanks a bunch.

A look to the southwest at the Wetterhorn.

Red Cloud (left) and Sunshine (center) were on my list for the next day but the weather and one of my toes had other thoughts.

Well done on the peak bagging. I need to step it up considering I want to stand on my finisher on my 40th bday - unfortunately just a few years away.

I wanted to get to Uncompaghre this year but I just can‘t drive that far and not enjoy 3 or 4 days in the area.
