| Yale - Denny Creek
The second day of our four day "Fourteeners in September" journey was to be a climb up Yale. One (Belford) down, three more to go.
We arrived at the Denny Creek Trailhead around 7:30 AM. There were 6 of us today Mike, Stu, Greg, Tim, Evan and myself. There was only one car in the parking lot when arrived and we saw only three people the entire day. We thought this surprising for such an easy access trailhead and for such a neat climb. The trail was great the entire route and the scramble at the end was entertaining.
We summitted around 11:30 AM, hung around on top for about 30 minutes, and then headed back down. About an hour after departing the summit we met Jackie from Johnson City, TN, who was on her way up. With some dark clouds lingering we were somewhat concerned about her safety. We left a note on her car and Jackie called us that evening to say she had summitted and was back at the trailhead.
On the way home we stopped at Punky's in Buena Vista for a quick meal and by 6:00 PM we were back to the Leadville Hostel to get ready for Friday's attempt on Princeton.
