 A No Labor Weekend

My wife and I flew in on Friday morning and spent a little time in Central City donating money to the cause.
We then headed to Loveland Pass to try to acclimate for a while and snap a couple of photos.

Saturday we headed back to Loveland Pass to hike the trail to Mt. Sniktau. This is great a good place to test your legs and lungs before heading out to higher peaks.
Easy access and great views. Along the way you can get a small taste of some rock scrambling

Sunday we headed to Alma to Buckskin Rd. and back to the Democrat trailhead. The road is easy driving but a bit bumpy in spots.
The weather started out nice but quickly turned overcast and cool. And the normal afternoon thunderstorms were in the forecast.

After gaining some ground and looking back you can see why the lake is called "Kite Lake".

We traveled on up to a rocky section but it's easy to stay on track with the wood signs and cairns.

Once we got close to the saddle between Democrat and Cameron you could feel the cold wind sweeping through and once on top the wind was finger numbing.
Everyone would stay just below the saddle to try to stay out of the wind while taking a break. This is where we cut it short. We had gotten a late start, the sky did not look great and we are slow movers. But my wife gained some good class 2 confidence and improved on her rock scrambling abilities.

I also included a couple of shots from Dillon next to the Lake where we were staying. An absolutely gorgeous place.
