 Massive Traverse

I completed this trip solo. I started at about 0530 in the morning at the North Halfmoon Creek Trailhead. There were many low hanging clouds at the beginning of the hike, but no rain. I hiked up the good trail to the trail junction and located the sign. I turned right and started my hike up the steep rocky trail. The trail is in very good condition and was very nicely constructed. I gained the summit ridge and saw the signed junction to the South Massive Peak. I decided to summit the Main Massive Summit first, then look at the weather and decide what to do. I summited Main Massive and decided to head North on the traverse.

A few clouds started to move in and it started to snow lightly, but the weather looked like it was holding. I then hit "Green Massive". I then headed to "North Massive" I chose the left route or west side and it was class 3 with some loose rock and moderate exposure. I gained the summit, and signed the register. North Massive was the only peak with a register on the Massive Traverse.

I then moved on the Point 14,169. I then decided to go back and hit South Massive. The wind started to pick up, but I finally got to the South Massive peak. I ate some lunch and headed back down. I got to my car about 3:00 pm. I only saw about 6 or 7 other people on the mountain the whole day which was surprising. The traverse was fairly exhausting, but I'm glad I got to all of them.

on getting all five in one whack! After S. Massive, you should have descended the ridge to hit the other unranked high points (or did you?).

I had attempted Capitol on Saturday...got turned back due to bad weather (14 miles of hiking). I climbed and summited Castle and Conundrum on Sunday (another 13 or so hiking). Took Monday off, and did the Massive Traverse on Tuesday. I was ready to be done and have a beer.
