 1st 14er...Mt Sherman

Just completed my first 14er! Took my son and a friend. Here is my first trip report…

We camped on Friday night along CR18. Found a great dispersed sight. Although I prefer dispersed, we did check out Four Mile Campground and there were still a few spots available at about 7pm on a Friday night. Also plenty of other dispersed spots along the road. We slept in a bit and drove up to the trailhead. There is plenty of parking along the road within about a quarter mile of the TH. At 7:30am, the hikers were already like a line of ants up the mountain! Like others have said, you don't hike this one for the solitude. Anyhow, great hike. Up in 1:45. The day was beautiful, but the wind was like ice. We were pretty prepared with multiple layers, but boy did the wind have an edge…

...You‘re off and running. Despite the wind (for which Sherman is famous) and despite the common crowds (for which Sherman is also famous), it makes a good first 14er. It was my wife‘s first, too. It‘s all uphill from here!
