 Lindsey Crux Wall Advice

A bit of advice if you're climbing the Northwest Ridge

Bill gives three routes up the crux wall: left, right, or middle. If you take left or right you end up at the top of the wall, but you will be left or right of the center of the ridge and will have a sketchy little exposed scramble back up to attain the center of the ridge. We ascended about 10 feet up the center crack, then moved about three feet to the left and went straight up. There's exposure but the rock is solid and it's just like going up a ladder. Way fun!

BTW, we thought the hardest move was the jagged ridge before the crux wall. There is a nasty little exposed downclimb over a fin into a notch from which you traverse left to get to the base of the crux wall. Best route is up and over and take your time on the downclimb. Don't try to creep around the side of the fin - my wife would tell you it's scary exposed and the handholds are not nearly as useful as they first appear.

Attached is a photo of wifey with that nasty fin in the background. Also a photo of me and the route we took up the wall.

This is a really fun ridge climb. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

...a similar route to the one you describe and had the same results. The downclimb didn‘t bother me too much, but it‘s definitely exposed. Congrats on gettin‘ ‘er done!

Headed there this coming weekend! Thanks for the tips! Just hope we don‘t miss the left hand turn at the beginning. Someone should build a huge cairn there!

Bill, thanks again for the added tips! This added piece of info really helped and made this a fun one to enjoy! We read the tip before we got to the fin & even went a bit lower which made it even easier. The exposure is big but not a drop off like Capitol. Hope to run into you someday on the mountains!
