Doug "DaSlug" (http://www.14ers.com/phpBB3/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=2705) had already climbed all 58 but agreed to lead Jon, Eric, and me up Wilson Peak.

Doug believed we'd enjoy starting out from Woods Lake (access via Fall Creek Road a couple miles south of Placerville) and he was right - The Woods Lake trail proved to be a beautiful route that offered us quick (but steep!) elevation gain to the camping area around Navajo Lake.

It took us about three hours to reach Navajo lake and then another three hours to reach Wilson Peak on summit morning. Not a race but we made pretty good time considering overall elevation gain, from the parking area, is just over 1,400 metres (4,600 feet).

Once on the summit we enjoyed a leisurely break and also swapped out the Colorado Mountain Club's ( http://www.cmc.org ) summit register - I take the old registers to the CMC's clubhouse where they're archived for future use and reference.

For our climb the weather started out pretty darn nice but darkened later in the day to delay attempts on other peaks. Nevertheless, it was a great climb with some classic 3rd and 4th class moves just below the summit block.

YouTube mania:
(If all you see here is a bunch of white space please scroll further on down for the regular photographs. The reason you're probably seeing white space is because your employer is blocking YouTube access as they believe you should be working and not "studying" climbing beta!!)
