 Crestone Needle - 1st 14ner and 2nd 14ner

Holla!!! This is Elias' 1st 14er and my (Nelson AKA Maui Built) 2nd 14er.

So to start the weekend, we stopped by at El Caporal in Canon City for apparently the best Mexican food in Southern Colorado according to my Wexican (White-Mexican) friend Elias.

To the 4WD Trailhead? YES.
Image

My Corolla made it up 3.1 miles out of the 5.5 miles before we couldn't go up anymore due to the slick rocks from the rain. Otherwise I'm pretty confident my Super-Asian ride would've made it up all the way to the 4WD Trailhead!

We camped at Lower South Colony Lake that night.
Got up at 6 AM. Started hiking at 7 AM.
There she is: Crestone Needle - 14,197 feet

Made it to the top of Crestone Needle at 10AM. Celebrated for 10 minutes.

Called a few friends. Verizon and Alltel got 5 bars. It started raining.

Did my classic "Brittany Sloan" dance move on top of the summit.

Going down...

So these two Mexican and Filipino combo pretty much slid all the way down the wet rocks. And we also passed the 3 ladies coming down and that's just too bad they didn't summit because of the rain.

We got back to our camp at Lower South Colony Lake at 12:30PM. Back to our 4 wheeling Corolla at 2PM. And thank you to whoever found my Corolla's missing hubcap and returned it right next to its corresponding wheel. Much love to you.

Awesome TR! I love your pictures of both the mountain and yourselves enjoying it. You guys had a lot of personality and energy on the mountain when we met, and this TR follows suit. Glad to have met you and good luck on your future hikes. I hope to see you again on some of them!
