Ice Mountain - Refrigerator Couloir & N. Apostle

Its been a month since the light last came on in the Refrigerator on Ice Mountain and I'd say the season for this route is about done. We had snow for the whole of the couloir but the alpine ice is peeking through at the mid point constriction.

The NE Ridge descent is dry and for those looking for a double play, North Apostle is in herd path condition.

Awesome report     2009-07-15 14:43:46
Thanks for posting this. Tried to make an attempt on July 3 but could never see the peak and it rained all night. We hiked to Lake Ann instead. Probably go back in Sept and try again.

Seems a little over looked, but thought this was a great report. Good job.

Thanks for the thumbs up     2009-07-16 17:10:10
It was a surprise climb that just presented itself, right time, right snow, right temps, right crampons in the pack. Thanks for the thumbs up on the report, readers make the writing effort worthwhile.

Nice climb     2009-07-17 16:33:05
Looks a lot different than when we did it in May! The downclimb of the standard route was pretty sketchy with partially snow covered loose 4th class, but it doesn‘t sound a whole lot better dry

on a cool climb under less-than-ideal conditions. The Apostles rock!
