Bluebird Day on Yale!

We (L-R Frank, KG AKA greenwok, Brendan, and Michael) left CO Springs shortly after 4AM and after a couple brief "traditional Bio stops" (Woodland Park & Gunsmoke!) we were on the trail by 7AM

Weather was fantastic! Clouds began to build mid-late morning and by early afternoon the typical round of thunderstorms - but we were off the summit by 11:30 so no real issues with weather.

Let me just tell you if you haven't already hiked Yale - when Bill uses the words "Steep" and "Grind" what he really means is "STEEP" and "GRIND"! Of the 16 or so 14er's I've summitted - I believe this was the steepest from start to finish - it seemed there were really very few sections of the trail that did not have such an intense incline.

Nonetheless it was a fantastic day to be in the Sawatch as you can see by some of the pictures below. We were back at the car by 2:30PM and couldn't get our shoes off fast enough!

Enjoy the remainder of the photos, and this delightful summer in the CO Rockies!

Cheers!

KG

Yale hike

Congrats on summitting Yale. I hiked up it on 7/16. You‘re right, that incline is a challenge. I started early, took it slow, and stopped often. By the way, I like the marmot pic you got. It‘s a lot better than the one I took.
