My wife and I saw you guys glissading down Gilpin as we descended Sneffels on Saturday. Glad the weather cleared for you. It seemed to be piling up. Quote of the day ”I thought this was going to be easier, I did Elbert last year and it is much higher.” -heard at the lavender col.

Notch?     2009-07-06 07:32:48
I missed you guys by a day or two... There were a lot of people up there on Thursday, but I think I turned most of them around at the Col, that snow was sketchy in the upper couloir, and almost no one up there had snow gear, or even proper footwear. I‘m trying to figure out where the notch is... is it at the top of the SE couloir? The one that can be used to access the ridge? A guy fell down it on Thursday and got busted up a bit, but walked out and got a ride down for help. That mountain really grabbed my respect. Anyway, great job as always! Love the conditions report for Telluride, as I was thinking about taking a powder day soon...

Glad to have been able to twist your arm for some SJ Choss Heaps!
I love those days where the weather is better at 4pm than it is at 11am
Keith - Someone supposedly fell in that Couloir again Saturday, a man was telling us about it on our ascent to Blue Lakes Pass. That is why I used crampons!

That‘s some funny stuff... Elbert is gnarly though.
Notch: There are a couple couloirs holding snow currently. I believe the notch is on top of the first one encountered while heading up the ridge (I‘m not sure if it‘s the SE couloir you mention). Someone can correct me if I‘m wrong. Yes, you can use the couloir all the way for ridge access.
Mike, it was fun man... I just like to gripe about heaps when I‘m tired .

or something like that. Love the report & pics! Glad that the buttscratching was not left out.
I‘m still waiting for that Emma report and the jumpink...
