 1 day, 4 fourteeners

My son and I hit the trail at Kite Lake just after 6AM on Tuesday for our first attempt at the loop trail. It turned out to be an absolutely gorgeous day and we made it back to Kite Lake just after 1PM.

We were climbing in snow for significant portions of Democrat and Cameron but it was solid enough to make for easy going. Not knowing what to expect, I had even thrown in the crampons but never needed them.

I only wish I had found this web site prior to the climb. We goofed on the descent from Bross. Where we should have turned left down into the trough we thought we saw an alternate route going to the right and followed it. It dumped us right down thru the steepest part of the crags and onto some very steep, unstable and treacherous talus. It was far too steep to consider turning back so we just went for it and ended up at the parking lot about the same time as the other climbers who had been right behind us before we took the wrong turn.
