on the summit of columbia! thanks for sharing the story about your grandfather (due to the wind, i thought you said your ”father” on the summit). too bad we didn‘t have you along in the three elk creek basin to help us identify wildflowers. after the hike, we bought a wildflower ID card at the gear store in BV, but it doesn‘t even include several of the flowers we saw.

Thanks for the great report GHG! Columbia is our last Collegiate to summit and we‘ll be heading up there tomorrow 7/6. Your grandfather story is a good one. Not only keeps things in perspective but reminds us that hiking is a great time for reflection, not just for ”conquering” nature‘s bounty. Thanks for the great information on the hike and the flora.
