It started a month ago. Living so close to Pikes affords many views and the echo's of the Y calling my name. We tried a few times, but road or weather conditions would not allow for it. Reading the reports from last week made it that much more enticing. I posted a thread looking for partners. Some thought about it, Snowmanco was all in. We figured with the cold temps that we had some time. We met at 0830 and drove up to the gate. The road was closed at mile 15. We thought it would be one of those "no soup for you" days. We waited at mile 15 for 20 minutes and they opened to the top of the playground. not wanting to sit around, we opted for a quick trip to Little Italy. This is were we meet OrthoErik.

We got down to the bottom, where Erik had a car stashed. He gave us a ride back up. Along the way we talked him into doing the Y with us if the road was open. It was and he was all in. I had done the right side twice before and was pleased to hit the left side (skiers left).

We got a late start (noon) in the Y. The snow was still in great shape and fresh stuff had covered any and all tracks from the previous visitors. It was great to get out with Snowmanco and OrthoErik.
