”Y” We Love Springtime!     05/04/2009 02:25
Bravo Kevin! Looks like a great team effort that paid off with a beautifully executed snow climb. And hey - doesn‘t this make it a ”Baker‘s Dozen” for you on Pikes?

Thanks!     05/02/2011 14:23
For confirming that the Y is looking great right now. Nice TR!

Very nice!!     05/04/2009 13:55

Nice job.     05/05/2009 15:40
I‘m heading up there this weekend. Thanks for the Beta. Looks like you guys took what I‘ve dubbed the Y Couloir Direct. It‘s between the the couloirs that Roach describes as the left and the right. I‘m shooting for the left this time.

It appears that you never used snowshoes on the trip is that correct?

snowshoes     05/05/2009 15:51

Yes, we did use snowshoes from the Bottomless Pit junction all the way to the apron. I think you would be punching through too much to get by w/o them. That was the best conditions we have seen this time of year in the trees as well.

That was my 13th ascent of Pikes. So many routes to explore!

for the correction.

Hey since you‘ve been there 13 times have you ever tried the Summit House route. All I‘ve got is some confusing beta right now.

haven‘t heard of it     05/05/2009 20:48
I haven‘t heard of the summit house couloir, Josh. I‘ve done the Y direct 3x and the left branch once. Is it no harder than the Y? Add it to the list! I think I‘m going to do the Railroad next year. This year was the first time I have seen continuous snow in it.

well done     05/30/2009 18:59
good work on the long, successful ascent and thanks for some valuable beta. i look forward to giving it a go!
