You got some really good snow cover for that ski route, nice! Jordan is right, if your going after the 14er ski list, you better like mountaineering more than skiing Safe powder skiing is rare up high.

Great Pics!! Would it have been possible / safe to have hiked up torreys then back down the saddle before skiing down?

Congrats on the ski descent! With what little 14er skiing I have done, I have found that I would much rather ski the trees on 11ers

doumall - Liking mountaineering more than skiing won't be a problem , we were looking hard at the south slopes from your Grays report but settled on the standard after we figured it would have better coverage.

mac - Not sure, bagging Torreys would have been fine but I was a little weary of the bowl directly below the saddle, that's why we ended up traversing back to the east side of the face. This would be difficult to do from the saddle without re-ascending part way up Grays before traversing, so I guess it depends on how much work you are willing to do.

On your first, hopefully mant to come. Try not to get too addicted to skiing 14ers though. The truth is...there is far better skiing in the state...I can‘t wait til my list is done.
