 Mt. Elbert Southern trailhead

The Mt. Elbert Southern trailhead was accessible with a Toyota 4runner. (Thanks for the great details of fellow 14ers.) The weather was great (Mid 20‘s) but extremely windy (Avg 40-70mph) at times. Also, not much snow on the mountain yet. I setup camp just below the treeline and had to tie the tent to some large rocks and a tree in order to hold it in place. The wind kept lifting the tent off the ground even with my pack in it. The following day I made the trek up the mountain and arrived approx. 1430hrs to the summit. I hiked back down, jumped into my tent and passed out. It was exhausting fighting the wind. The entire trip I didn‘t see a soul. I had the mountain all to myself. It was to say the least an amazing experience.
