I hiked/ran the north ridge of Holy Cross from Halfmoon TH on Sat 09/20. The snow that had been falling the last few weeks is mostly melted. And as a bonus, the aspens along the Tiguwon Road are hitting their peak color.
I left the TH at 0700 and was on the summit at 1015. Above treeline, Holy Cross is an endless talus/boulder field, which can be very tedious. There is a very nice melted-out cornice about halfway up the ridge that provides some much needed relief from the boulder hopping. It is like a snow sidewalk, firm and runnable.

As a final bonus, a brilliant rainbow appeared near Georgetown while driving down I-70 and moved all the way down the canyon with me to Idaho Springs.

But your photos have such interesting angles, and provide a really unique vision of that oft-photographed, wondrous peak. Nice report on my favorite 14er of the Sawatch - thanks for posting it!

I‘ve learned about photography mostly thru trial and error. John Fielder‘s book ”Photographing the Landscape: The Art of Seeing” has been a great help to me, but mostly I just take lots of pictures, trying different angles and exposures/speeds. Digital cameras are great for that.......you can take lots of pictures and not worry about wasting film.
