Mt.Bierstadt and Evans Combo via Sawtooth

Me and my roommate decided to try and summit Mt. Bierstadt and Evans via the Sawtooth path. This was our first attempt at these mountains. Since this hike happened over a year ago, I do not recall much about the timing, but it is about a 10 mile round trip and took up about 7-8 hours.

We started the hike from Guanella pass parking lot area about 7-8 in the morning and continued on to summit Bierstadt.

It was very foggy at the top again and we waited a while to see if it would break to attempt the trek across the sawtooth. Here is a picture coming down the backside of Bierstadt.

We then continued and grabbed a bite to eat looking out over Abyss Lake. Following this short break we started the class 2 and 3 scrambling over the Sawtooth.

Seeing as this was our first time in this much exposure, it freaked us out a little bit knowing we could fall to our death over 500 ft., but we made it.

We then continued on some easy scrambling and hiking up to Mt. Evans.

We quickly got back on the trail and headed back to Guanella Pass. This was easy for the first few miles until you dip in the Scott Gomer Creek area. Here the willows make it quite difficult and frustrating to get around (they are a little rough on legs that have been walking for 8 miles already). We finally made it back to trailhead after attaining the Bierstadt Trail.

This is a final look back at the Sawtooth which is beautifully lit by the sun.
