 The Dane Train...

Jalapeno, aka Hallie, aka Beans, and I left home at 3:45 to meet Missy, Tyler, and their two Danes, Copper, and Booda at the TH. We arrived a bit late, so we had to hustle up the trail to catch them. The dogs met and got along great, and we started up the trail after the dogs got their hiking boots on.

Booda and Copper are very well behaved and beautiful dogs. We had nice weather, with minimal wind, and lots of sunshine. All three dogs had a VERY good day, and summited at a few minutes after 9:00 a.m.

I was very nervous about how Beans would do with all the amazing space to romp in, but I was pleasantly suprised by her trotting up the trail 30' or so, then sitting or laying down and waiting for me to catch up.

She was having an off day with other dogs, so I tried to keep her leashed and close to me whenever we passed someone with four legs. I think she was just being protective of her new "pack".

Copper and Hallie looked so similar (right down to their matching red boots) that at first glance, even I had trouble telling them apart. The only thing that made a difference for most of the day, was Hallie's bright red windbreaker.

As soon as we hit the TH at around noon, Beans hopped into the back seat and passed out for the entire drive home. She slept the rest of the day and was very calm the next day too, which our older Dane Pepper (recovering from major knee sugery on Friday) appreciated.

Overall, it was a great trip with good company, awesome weather, and VERY well behaved puppies.

Looks like you guys had a great day. I was on Quandary on 8/27. It was my 1st of 4 14ers in 4 days, and fisrt ever. I had the privilege of hiking with Horton the Quandary dog for a little while.

Great photos and story. It looks like the dogs had as much fun as you guys. You couldn‘t have asked for a more beautiful day.
