 Mt Sherman - Southwest Ridge

The trail is fairly easy to follow while going past all the mining ruins but then when ya get among all the talus, sometimes it was hard to follow but it was obvious where we were heading

During the hike we could see one guy ahead of us and then another guy with a dog came up behind us. We made it to the summit in pretty good time, just over two hours and there was a local lady from Leadville who pointed out all the surrounding mountains to us, another guy and a couple who came up from the otherside. So after about 20 mins we had the top all to ourselves. We took our pics then sat and ate.

Shep had started to limp so I decided it was time for his booties for the journey back down. From now on I will put his booties on at the start of the hike and will keep him leashed then I will take them off for the way down and he can be off leash. I did it the other way round this day as he was couped up in the car all night and was full of energy so I just let him run it off. He would get pretty far away from us though always in sight and if he lost one of his booties then it would be nearly impossible to find and at $60 a set!!! On the way down he was kind of pooped so I had him off leash until he seen a Pika and he came back without a bootie so we had to search for it. Took about 15 mins but luckily we found it and I had to leash him. Back at the car some out of towners pulled up from Minesota and they were going to hike to the summit. They were all in their 50's and 60's and dressed like they were going to the park not climbing a 14er so we offered them our printed out maps to keep them on trail and told them to keep an eye on the black clouds that were rolling in. Tourists!!!
