Tested the old legs with our first back to back 14ers-and were rewarded with 2 beautiful days in a row and low crowds. Climbed Yale on Wednesday and followed with Princeton on Thursday.
Camped just shy of Johnson's Village off 285:
Started Yale at 5:30, summited at 9. Aside from passing a large group on the way up, had a good hour to ourselves on the summit and came accross only a handful of people on our way down-back to the trailhead by 1. Weather was unusually calm, hardly a breeze even on the summit. A 180 from my last attempt, as a nasty storm turned us around from the ridge. The views of the valleys on the hike up and all the 14ers in view from the summit are well worth the effort:
Fair to say we underestimated our hike up Princeton...with the legs of jello and rock scrambling, it didn't quite feel like 2 miles less and a 1000 feet less gain than Yale.
Started out at 6, summited at 10 and were back down by 1. Ran into only 3 others on the mountain.
