Text TR to come...     06/16/2008 17:34
I‘m too lazy to write a text TR, but I‘m sure one of us will soon, and then I‘ll include it on this page.

for putting up the nice pics. say, how does the SW side of Lavender Col look in terms of a ski descent? a recent sneffels TR showed that the snowfield is full of small suncups.

Yes - pretty much everything we crossed was very suncupped - Snake Couloir itself, the descent down the South East Couloir to Lavender Col, and our descent down the north side of Lavender Col. I can‘t say for sure what the southwest side looks like but I‘d imagine the same.

That said, there were lots of skiers up there that day. While we were packing up our bivy site in Blaine Basin we must have seen 5-10 skiers come down Snake Couloir (they must have all come from Yankee Boy Basin though since we didn‘t seem them come all the way down into Blaine Basin). So presumably late in the morning (noonish) the suncups soften up enough to give reasonably good skiing.
