I have been itching to get out and climb some snow. Conditions have been hit or miss lately with the warm temps and night. NOAA was calling for the low to be around 34 degrees @13,000 feet at Mt. Evans. We were unsure of if we would be even able to do this climb. But, the nice thing about the N. Face of Mt. Evans is that you can drive basically to the base of the climb. Our plan was to just play it by ear on what aspect we were going to take up the face. We arrived at Summit Lake around 6:45 AM and were hiking by 7. Our plan was to go right up the face and gain the ridge.
Climbed Red, Skied Blue
The snow was in good condition to climb, not too soft, not too hard. It was going to be a safe climb. Half way up the snow field we spotted a couloir to the left that looked like it ran to the ridge.
Starting the booter
Entering the coolie
The coolie ended up being a little steeper than the face we were on and it involved climbing on some rock which made for a fun, interesting accent.

After reaching the ridge, it was a quick 10 minute hike to the summit. It was about 9:30 when we reached the summit and the clouds were building giving us some extra time with the snow.
As always, hardcore
After hanging out a bit on the summit, we walked down the ridge to where our downclimb was to get into our shot. Snow was a little chopped up, but it was pretty nice spring corn.
Fun day, pretty good snow, and now some sleep. Hopefully leaving in a couple of hours for a another hike down south a bit.
