Scafell Pike, England - Wasdale Head/Mickledore Route

Hi All,

Scafell Pike, England - not exactly up to the same standards of height as the 13ers/14ers in Colorado, but I thought I would share my trip report with you nonetheless!

Scafell Pike at 3209 feet (978 metres), is England's tallest mountain/hill/lump (depending on where you're from). Although not a giant, it's still a fun hike to the top, including a bit of scrambling up scree and narrow, slightly treacherous rock clefts. The total altitude gain is roughly 3000 feet so complies with the "3000 feet gain" rule.

Rather than repeat the trip report here, please visit my website for loads of pictures and a quick overview of the hike - .

The site was produced on a Mac, so I know it works on Safari, but should also be fine on Firefox and Internet Explorer (?).

Looking forward to attacking a few 14ers in the not too distant future as I am emigrating to Colorado (hopefully will be there by September)! I'll be looking for a few climbing buddies to show me the ropes on the 14ers very very soon!

Cheers,

Nige

I‘d love to do that hike. I wish that I could figure out a way to finance a European trekking vacation.

Great to see some photos of my favorite Lake District peak.
Last time I was there we climbed Scawfell Butress, one of the great climbs (5.9) in the district.
Am still a member of the Fell and Rock club, although living in the US since 1979.
