 Handies - Grizzly Gulch

Well this was my first 14er. I drove from Ohio and acclimated for a few days and everything went well. I awoke at 5:00a.m. in my tent near the trailhead to the sounds of a couple people who drove up to do Redcloud/sunshine. I started up at 5:30 and hiked in the dark for the first hour and a half or so. I Reached the summit by 9:15 and the weather was perfect. The view of Uncompgre and Wetterhorn was amazing. The view was peaks as far as the eye could see in every direction and there was a small montain lake that you can see in the pictures, off the back side. This was truely an amazing hike and will always be killer because it was my first 14er.

Glad you made it. Me and a friend also drove from Ohio and attempted Handies on Sep. 12th (from American Basin) but the weather prevented it It was going to be our first too.
