 Shavano/Tabeguache - Blank Gulch

Great Trip!

Got moving from Blank Gulch TH around 6AM.

Don‘t miss the turn for Shav and Tab within the first mile.

A glimpse of the shoulder of Shavano from the trees.

Welcomed by sheep just above treeline.

The Angel Of Shavano, dry as a bone.

The final ridge up to Shavano

Victory! I summited around 9AM. I had the summit all to myself and so far had only passed a few folks on their way down. Would make a great night hike... Bluebird so far, so I hung out for 15 min. and decided to head over to Tab.

The ridge over to Tabeguache isn‘t all that bad. I found it to be a lot easier than going from Belford to Oxford and back, for example.

Got to Tab around 10. Drank a beer in the sun. Still no company, though I saw a couple descending the North side of Tab. Early summiters up here
Image

Got back to Shav by about 11:30AM and ran into about a dozen groups on their way up and over.

And slogged it out to the TH by about 2PM.

Perfect day. Couldn‘t have asked for better weather.

Nice climb. And it sounds like it was rather peaceful and uncrowded. I especially liked the beer bit. The photo lacks clarity, but if I had to guess, I'd say it's an import, noted by the thinnish-looking neck and smallish-looking label ... and bulbous-looking shoulder on the bottle. So whatchya drinkin' in that there pic?

That would be a Lefthand Milk Stout imported all the way from Longmont
One of their finest I might add.
