 Handies - Grizzly Gulch

After summitting Redcloud/Sunshine on 8/26 (see my Redcloud/Sunshine trip report), Gordy, Adam and I set out to climb Handies on 8/27 at 6:50 am. Our legs were burning a little bit after the previous day's climb, but we were steadily moving upward despite the burn. The Grizzly Gulch trail goes up a beautiful valley. After we emerged from the trees, we started getting sprinkled on and there was a decent cloud-cover with the sun popping out every now and then. We saw 2 rainbows while ascending. Once we reached the summit ridge, we got nailed by a 35-40 knot wind - it was the biggest wind I've experienced on a 14er so far. Needless to say, it was pretty cold too so we all put on our jackets or ponchos. We had decent views at the summit but we were hindered a little bit by the clouds. Then we descended - round-trip in 4:45.
