 Missouri Mountain - Northwest Ridge

Middlebrook‘s description and directions for the route are detailed and accurate.

The Missouri Gulch parking lot had only about six spots open for cars at 0600 hours (first light). There is a latrine at the trailhead.

The trail is obvious the entire route. Even after viewing the route, map and photographs, I was surprised how deeply in to the valley the trail runs before splitting off Elkhead Pass Trail. There is a sign at the turn off.

It was windy on the northwest ridge. The "drop" is close to the summit. It is short and not tough but may challenge some Class 2 hikers.

Times:
Ascent: 3:20 hours at a steady climb.
Descent: 2:30 hours.
Total trip: 6:20 hours.

Notes: Great vistas from top. Scenic hike. Suitable for solo ascent based on traffic and quality of trail.

The mushrooms and fungus were remarkable. I‘ll find a suitable site to post photos.

BOTTOM LINE: I would do this hike again.
