| Mt Yale via Denny Creek TH |
Friday 8/11 from Denny Crk TH our late-start (9:30AM) party of 3-adults with 2-pack goats made it up Yale kinda late in the day ~2PM. Wouldn‘t have attempted it but the weather the day before was balmy all day - no rain and Friday was looking the same according to the forecast! It was holding with light scattered clouds and nothing even threatened until we were back in BV around 6PM. Coincidentally we also saw a large scout group with 2-adults and 10-scouts descending @ 13,000‘ about 1PM (different day - different group than the SAR on Yale post). However we never did summit as one in our party became sick at the ridge top and it was questionable whether the goats would make it over and through the summit ridge boulders/scree etc? So with a brief sigh I decided 13980‘ was close enough for the ‘first-timers‘ in the group ...ate a little lunch ...feed the goats then quickly got our sick one down to 12k where he was feeling almost human again. All in all it was terrific day to be on the mountain! Absolutely beautiful trail up through old growth forest to tree line and with perfect weather it was a hoot ...topped off with a soak in the hot springs and a late campfire dinner of dutch oven chile rellenos helped shorten the recovery time. Can‘t wait to hit another 14er soon! I put my photos in to a slide show on my Google album for viewing. Just click the slide show button at top of page to view the slides w/captions. | |||
