 The Snave

See the photos, watch the video, and read a brief TR here:

The Snave is a pleasant snow climb/scramble on Mount Evans' north face. Instead of following Roach's advice and scrambling up a talus and boulder slope on climbers left to reach the ledge system below the The Snave, we chose to ascend a snow filled gully below and to the right of The Snave. This turned out to be pretty fun (actually better than The Snave itself). The gully narrowed up and offered a little 4th class chimney finish. Once on the ledge system we traversed back left and entered The Snave proper. The Snave itself was very short and offered a little mellow snow and a bit of 3rd class scrambling.

After topping out we joined the masses for the last 100' or so to the summit. At that point Chris had to get back to Denver so he bailed down the fast way back to Summit Lake. The rest of us took a more leisurely descent via Mount Spalding.

It was a nice day out and fun to finally meet some 14ers.com-ers: Chris P. and Jamie Nellis.
