My first 14ers! and "Addicted" was the first thing I said after reaching my second summit that day...
We left Colorado Springs at about 0330, in time to cross the iron bridge by 0530. From there, the sun was just beginning to rise on Grays Peak. There were quite a few people ahead of us; some were even coming down after a night hike. Prior to this morning, I hadn't hiked over the trailhead elevation. I thought it would be tougher than this. We managed to keep a steady pace all the way up Grays, stopping only for a few fun shots with a couple goats! Of course we stopped to enjoy the summit on Grays Peak as well! Then it was a quick pace down and a hard charge up the South Slopes of Torreys Peak... Overall, a beautiful day and an incredible workout!
We kept eyeing Kelso Ridge on our ascent, and decided early on that we would descend that route. It was tough, but not as bad as some people might think. Each time I looked behind me, I was glad we were headed down instead of up!
On Grays Peak Trail: We stopped at 13,500 feet to get a few shots of the goats.
From Grays Peak: The trail was clear all the way through the South Slopes of Torreys.
From Torreys Peak: The routes up and down Grays were in great shape too.
From Torreys Peak: Our first look down Kelso Ridge was intimidating yet intriguing!
On Kelso Ridge: This was approximately 13,500 feet looking back up Torreys.
From Kelso Ridge: A quick glimpse of Grays Peak shows how clear the trail was today!
From Stevens Gulch: The lower half of Kelso Ridge, I will definitely ascend that route next time!

I am happy to hear that the descent was not too bad. I thought you guys were crazy, but I think by that time, I was feeling loopy myself.
The Grays peak trail (down) seemed one step above an escalator after the ridge up.
Look forward to crossing paths with you again.
Great shots of you coming down the ridge, it is nice to have a body in the frame to get the perspective.
