 sherman - in the wind

road up 4 mile was clear all the way to the gate. 6am start up road past buildings. From the second to last building there seemed to be a cornice all along ridge ‘tween Sherman and Sheridan . so I opted for the coulier straight up---WRONG CHOICE(for older man early in season)
Kick step a whole bunch, very windy, finally reaching top of pitch @ 13800‘ in four hours from car---‘whew‘--MUCHO WINDY,turned and headed down---fun descent (once out of wind)

Hi, friends and I are planning to hike Sherman on June 1/07, could you describe the conditions of trail when you hiked it on 5/26/07? I'd much appreciate it. It will be our 1st winter hike. What do we need to watch for? Do you hike the same route as you would in the summer? Thanks

Giarcd, thought you might like to know that we did make it up that day. The traverse to the east ridge was hard but we found a bit more shelter from the wind over there.
