Sherman & Gemini from Iowa Gulch

We left the Th at 6:00AM and had the trail to ourselves. As you drop down off the main road to the creek watch carefully for the little cairns and the some times faint trail across the lower gulch. If you‘re not paying attention you‘ll end up with a little messy willow bashing to get across . As you start up again, the trail is a little rough leading across the lower scree slopes to the gully below the saddle. Route finding is not difficult as it‘s pretty well cairn‘d along the way. When you reach the saddle at 13,100 you can now see the standard trail up from Leavick and look up the ridge for the remaining route to the summit. There are a handful of climbers trails leading up the ridge, but they all merge at the narrow section of the route , just below the summit.
From Sherman‘s summit it‘s about .7 miles over to the obvious twin summits of Gemini. The furthest one is the highest. Pick your own route over across light scree and tundra. Chances are you‘ll have Gemini to yourself. While we were there we looked back at Sherman and saw 20+ people summit after us, none came over to Gemini. Once again we were surprised at the number of people on Sherman on a week day. By the time we got back to Iowa Gulch TH, there were 12 cars parked on the road.
