 Pyramid Peak - Northeast Ridge

No doubt, Saturday was a good weather day. We started at 5am with 3 small groups ahead of us. Don‘t necessarily care to admit that we somehow got started off on the wrong trail at Maroon Lake and ended up bushwacking NE from the lake until we ran into the trail. Maybe it would have helped if I remembered my head lamp. Once we got on track, the rest of the trail on up to the summit was marked well with cairns. Once you hit the saddle below the summit, you have to take a little time in finding cairns, but it‘s not difficult. Below the saddle I mentioned, there‘s a long-narrow snow field that makes the ascent and descent easier than hopping across small to medium boulders. No ice axe or crampons are needed since this is the only snow and you can hike on it next to the rocks without sliding down the mountain. A helmet is recommended since there is loose rock from the saddle to the summit. I‘ve seen worse, but it‘s a good precaution. The exposure on the trip wasn‘t too bad either. The Class 4 should be taken cautiously, but I don‘t know why I worried about this peak for years. It seemed pretty straight forward.
Good Luck on your Trip!
