TH: Half Moon
The road to Half Moon TH is in fairly good shape. A few sedans in the parking lot. High clearance Dodge Caliber rental car had no problems.
On trail at 0245. Nice peaceful hike up to the pass and then down to cross East Cross Creek. Reached timberline before dawn.

The trail up to timberline is easy to follow. Above timberline the route is obvious and frequently cairned. I arrived first on the summit and enjoyed a short break for photos and snacks.
Photo to the west:
Descended to about 12,200 before encountering first other hiker (sleepy heads!). Passed numerous other hikers on my way out. Ran into a forest ranger at Half Moon Pass. I told him there were dogs off leash on the trail ahead. He said, "Well, that‘s what I‘m here for!"

Arrived back at the TH at 0945. Headed down to Buena Vista to spend some time in the Cottonwood Hot Springs...
