 Torreys and Grays loop

Met my friend kevin and his 4 year old aidan at exit 221 and shuttled in with my truck. road is very good condition, just rocky. parking lot was pretty full and checking the register, noted about 30 people today... hey, it's friday, these people should be in the office working! there was a camry and accord so lower clearance cars can make it but please pull over and let us 4-wheeler's thru.

we started at 9am with kevin carrying aidan in a converted backpack 95% of the way. the trail was filled with wildflowers and the sky was deep blue with zero clouds. after passing some 4 person groups, we hooked up with a girl named abbey who joined us as we veered off toward Torreys first. Temperature was perfect, in the low seventies.

we had about 100yds of snow on the traverse to the saddle. as we got toward the saddle, the wind became gusty and people were wearing thin fleece or windbreakers.

a quick scramble up torreys and a leisurely lunch with just a couple other folks and a friendly 7 month old lab named jake. incredibile visibility. breck was obviously and you could spend alot of trivia momemnts naming peaks in the distance

as we descended, kevin was tired with his 50lb load so he started down and abbey and i crusied up to grays.

leaving her at the top, i ran down a couple miles on the standard grays approach trail to catch up to kevin and aidan. GOOD KARMA .. my gps (not needed to find the trail, but just a fun toy for a gadget/gear geek) jumped out of its place on my pack near the top of grays which i did not realize until about 3 miles down. at the trailhead, i left a note and a gentleman named greg called my later in the day and returned it and was not interested in the reward money. (i am still going to send him a rei gift card). beautiful weather, no clouds, and nice people ....
