 San Luis Peak, Stewart Creek

We got up at 12am, on the road (COSP) by 1am and at the trailhead by 5am. Summited in 3h 40min after a leisurly hike. Snow pretty much all gone. Only saw 2 other groups on the mountain.

This could probably be a very good first timers hike, few steep spots (and they are short and really not that steep when compared with most of the other 14ers). Plenty of time to acclimate to altitude during the hike thanks to the length. Great scenery. 2wd access on a well maintained gravel road (you will spend an hour bouncing around on gravel though which likely contributes to keeping the traffic at this trail down somewhat). Great trail all the way to the top. Non technical. Plenty of good camping spots. Added bonus includes a large beaver community and possibility of moose sightings.
