No moon on grays and torreys.

Well i got off of work reasonably early yesterday, and had been thinking about heading up and giving grays and torreys a try at night. Well i got my stuff together and left denver around 6:15 and was at the trail and hiking by 7.
I set as fast a pace as i could handle and made it to the top of grays by 8:25, just in time to see the 8:29 sunset in the western sky. Man that was awesome.

Just before reaching the summit i was met by some mountain goats headed down towards the saddle.

Well I hung around on top of grays until around 9 or so taking pictures and such and headed off towards torreys and caught up to the mountain goats who seemed to be doing the same combination as me, as they were almost to the top of torreys as well. I arrived at the summit of torreys at 9:25 and got some awesome pictures of the limelight in the west and the lights of denver.

I left the summit of torreys around 10

Instead of walking back across the saddle towards the grays trail from torreys i chose to descend the now bulletproof ice down to the bottom of the valley. I sure was glad i had my ice axe, and i had a very dark and unnerving descent down some fast snow to the valley floor where i contoured around and met the trail and walked out to my car. And arrived there around 11:10.
The trip took just over 4 hours, however the actual climb and descent time was only about 3 hours.
I figured my elevation gain at 2000 feet per hour, and obviously my elevation drop was about 3000 feet per hour.
Awesome trip and i recomend it to anyone, however the snow descent might be a no no for the inexperienced.
