 Mt. Princeton, East Slopes

Image

Climbed Princeton yesterday and started from the lower parking lot not realizing what a grunt it was up to the actual trail that heads into the Princeton Basin..

It is literally almost 3000 feet to the cairn to head in..
Most cars can make it to the radio towers, so I would recommend parking there.. Very pleasant climb although very hot.. Bring lots of water.. After about halfway up the trail, it is very easy to lose it.. It seems as though several trails were made up the steep talus to the ridge because people were not finding the poorly marked cairns.. It is a shame because these new trails are eroding the ridge..

Two small snowfields still exist but are rapidly melting away..

I was surprised to find a memorial to a woman that had been killed by lightning just below the summit...

The climb was great, weather was great except for the long grunt up that fire road (Mt. Princeton RD CR322).
