Parked and camped out at the Huron 2WD trailhead/field just by Winfield. Started around 4:15 AM, the 4WD road to the trailhead has a lot of great campsites along the way, so if you have 4WD and good clearance I would recommend camping closer to the trailhead. We seemed to encounter a Mountain Lion or Bobcat in the field just outside parking area for the upper trailhead. Cannot be positive since it was pitch black, however it was a rather large set of forward facing yellow eyes tracking us from across the field. I believe we just interrupted its morning routine, but a good way to get the adrenaline pumping for the hike.
We very much enjoyed the quiet and solitude of this route. Easy path to follow up to the basin. There is one large tree down across the trail about halfway up, but you straddle over it with relative ease.
The hike up to the saddle was loose but not terrible. I'd recommend going over to the old mine and then following the switch back up a little further before making a relative straight line up to the saddle. Made it slightly easier, as on the descent we went straight down and it was quite loose.
The crux of the hike is still as all the other reports say, surprisingly stable. I'd recommend going hikers left-center on the ascent and the same way on the way back down.
Summit was fairly crowded by the time we arrived, but nonetheless the views were beautiful.
We made sure not to stay too long as we wanted to avoid the afternoon thunderstorms as well as any slick rock.
Once again really enjoyed this route, it was super quiet and peaceful. If you cant make it up to 4wd trailhead I still think this is an excellent route, the hike up the road was more enjoyable than some of the other slogs I've partaken in. Definitely a memorable one.

I believe we may have seen you guys up there. We did the same route that morning. I didn't enjoy that slip 'n slide near the mine, especially coming down. Yuk. But the rest was pretty sweet.
